Simple Line Access Protocol
There is a scientific need to have access to spectral line databases in the VO.
VOSpec make use of the Simple Line Access Protocol to retrieve spectral lines from different spectral line databases through a uniform interface (SLAP).
[See specifications: IVOA SLAP Specification ]

Getting spectral line overlapped with spectra is really simple with VOSpec.
Open your local/remote spectra and select the specific area where you want to analyze spectral lines. You can select this region by clicking on the 5th botton in the graphic menu bar. Or you can go to Operation and select the SLAP item.
Drag the mouse along the area you want to select and you will see the the yellow selection as shown below.
A window with SLAP services availiable will be displayed. Choose the service/s and click on "Select". When you will move the mouse on the VOSpec plot you will see the lines.
